Several free classes for all age groups in self defense for men, women, teens and kids as well as free unique fitness classes. Everyone is welcome to join us and learn self defense techniques that could save your life and get an awesome full body workout!
There is a place in Middleburg Heights that trains people to fight for their lives against violent street attacks. An attack, that often times, involves multiple attackers and weapons. It’s not your everyday gym, it’s not another martial arts school, and it’s not a boxing club. It is Northeast Ohio’s ONLY Krav Maga self defense training facility. People come from all over northeast Ohio, a far away as Youngstown, even out of state from Pennsylvania just to get this specific real-world practical training offered at Fight Fit Krav Maga because they can’t get it anywhere else.
Why are these people willing to travel to Middleburg Heights when there is a karate school on every corner? Because they have discovered that traditional martial arts does not deal effectively with modern day violence. Krav Maga (“krahv magah”), the official Fighting System of the Israeli Defense Forces, is being taught all over the world to law enforcement, military units and civilians as one of the best and most realistic training programs in self defense.
The Krav Maga Self Defense Program: Training with a Purpose
Recognized as the most efficient self defense for real-life situations, emphasizing practical defenses against real attacks, Krav Maga is unlike most martial arts that are formal, ritual-oriented and difficult to learn. Since it is based on simple and instinctual movements as well as natural reflexes, Krav Maga allows people of all ages and fitness levels to learn real self defense and to learn it quickly.
Instructors incorporate reenactments, teaching students how to operate under the stress of an actual attack. “It doesn’t matter how strong you are,” explains Sarah Fox, owner of Fight Fit and one of only 8 female instructors throughout the Krav Maga Worldwide Association of American at the Expert Instructor level, “Its about understanding vulnerable targets and the weapons that you have available to you – your hands, fists, elbows, knees, shins, even teeth and learning to tap into your aggressiveness in any situation.” Krav Maga deals with common violent attacks that happen on the street, not what happens on the training mat, ring or cage. “Mixed martial arts has become extremely popular with organizations such as UFC and TV Shows such as The Ultimate Fighter but sport fighting is very different than what happens on the streets,” says Fox. ‘Cage fights have rules and referees meaning certain strikes are illegal and someone is going to stop the fight if it gets too dangerous. There are no rules in a street fight and you will more than likely be dealing with more than one attacker and often times they have a weapon. You cannot afford to fight fair. It’s not about points, it’s not about belts, it’s about fighting for your life.’

The Krav Maga Fitness Program: Getting Rid of Fat and Fear
With a heart-pumping fitness program, says Sarah Fox. “Some people come because they want a really intense cardio workout but are bored with their everyday aerobics routine. With Krav Maga training they get a great workout but because they are learning something practical and useful at the same time they stay engaged in their workout which keeps them coming back. Some people come for the safety factor and they become physically fit. Some people come for the fitness factor and they leave safer.” Krav Maga Self Defense training is explosive with bursting movements and multiple repetitive strikes and kicks at a variety of different angles giving you a total body workout.
Growing in Middleburg Heights!
Fight Fit has grown since there first location only 3 years ago and had to open this new 8300 square foot facility to accommodate the growing interest in real-world self defense and intense fitness classes. With the expansion several additional classes have been added to the schedule such as Fight Fit’s own Core Fit classes a great workout that focuses on strength and conditioning designed to improve your cardiovascular endurance and physical strength. Utilizing dumbbell weights, pull/chin up bars, rings, jump ropes, power wheels, Bosu and body weight exercises, this class will be different every time to keep you engaged and challenged. It will focus on core stability for proper mechanics as well as work all the muscle groups for a great overall workout. Also added to the schedule at Fight Fit, TRX suspension training, Kettlebells, Focus Mitt Workouts, as well as Yoga, Pilates and Tai Chi for flexibility and recovery classes.
A Little Background…
Krav Maga was developed for the Israeli Defense Forces and was brought over to the United States to teach law enforcement units and civilians. Fight Fit in Middleburg Heights is northeast Ohio’s only official Krav Maga Worldwide training center which means the school and its instructors are certified by the Krav Maga National Training Center and Krav Maga Association of America, in Los Angeles. “Our instructor training is very intense in both its physical and teaching components. Our classes are not run by high ranking students as with many other schools. If you want to stand in front of a Krav Maga class to teach people how to defend their lives you are going to go through extensive training and even then, if your own techniques and teaching ability are not good enough you won’t become certified.” Sarah Fox goes on to explain that about 40% of people who attempt to become Krav Maga Worldwide instructors fail. “They won’t give it to you; you have to earn it which I think is a good thing. It shows how seriously we take our own training and the training of others.” Krav Maga training has been seen on numerous shows such as the History channels’ Human Weapon, Discovery’s Fight Quest and National Geographic’s’ Fight Science.

Inner & Outer Strength
People of all ages and levels of physical fitness can start out as beginners and work their way up very quickly. Students not only walk away in better shape and with healthier hearts but also with practical self defense techniques and knowing how to mentally tap into their own aggressiveness in any situation. Fight Fit in Middleburg Heights is drawing people from all over to train in their Self Defense classes, Weapons Defense training, KM Defensive Kickboxing and Fight Classes. “Our goal is to get people sweating, smiling and learning,” says Sarah. Fight Fit is a fun and friendly atmosphere to do very serious training.
